DID YOU KNOW THAT AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE CAN REACH A MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 2500ºC?

April 21, 2021

During the normal operation of an internal combustion engine, instant temperatures of 2500ºC can be reached in the combustion chamber.

For this reason, the cooling system of the vehicle must be able to evacuate at least 30% of the engine energy in form of heat. Otherwise, the internal components of the engine may suffer wear and eventually break.

Diesel engines are designed to work in a temperature range between 80 and 110ºC. The function of the cooling system is to keep the temperature within that range at all times to ensure an optimal engine behaviour.

One of the fundamental parts of the cooling system is the fan clutch. In Cojali, we develop and manufacture different types of viscous clutches that allow a more efficient control of the fan speed based on the engine cooling needs thanks to viscous coupling.
